Christian Mothers’ Association Disclaims CJ Communique

The Christian Mothers’ Association of the Roman Catholic Church has issued a disclaimer against a viral press statement relating to the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
The said release dated April 22 condemned the action of the President as “unjust”, adding that it sets a dangerous precedent that undermines the very foundation of the country’s democracy.
The said statement has courted backlash for the group particularly from sympathisers of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
However, in a communique, the women’s association said its attention had been drawn to the statement purported to be from its outfit.
“Please note that it is not coming from the Christian Mothers’ Association in the Roman Catholic Church.
“We comply with the Canon Laws and Teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and distance ourselves from the Press Statement.”
