Suspect in Dompoasehene Shooting in Custody- ARCC

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has reported that the suspect in the Adansi Dompoasehene shooting incident remains in police custody following the incident on Saturday.

According to the Council, the Minister paid a visit to the Obuasi Police Command on November 30, 2025, for a briefing on the incident during which he met the suspect identified as Nana Yaw Dankwa.

“The Minister commended the police for their swift response and professionalism. The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council will continue to monitor the situation closely.”

The Minister is also reported to have visited the traditional leader, Nana Okofo Kwabena Bonsu, who sustained injuries from the gunshot.

“Preliminary briefings to the Regional Minister indicate that the injury appears to have resulted from an accidental barrel burst, rather than an assassination attempt. The Minister provided support to the victim.”

It reported that the victim was in good health and responding positively.

The suspect is said to have discharged the near-fatal gunshot at a funeral in Obuasi on November 29, 2025.
