Agradaa Denied Bail After Appeal

A bail application filed by the lawyers of evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa, has been denied by the Amasaman High Court.

The application was pending the outcome of her appeal to her 15-year jail sentence delivered by the Accra Circuit Court on July 3, 2025.

This leaves her with the option of awaiting the outcome while serving her term in prison.

Background
The founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry was arrested in October 2022 over a money-doubling scam at a watch night service.

Ahead of the October 7 watch night Service, Agradaa advertised she was going to distribute money to all persons who will attend the service, in a video.

After the service, some alleged members of the church were captured on camera expressing their displeasure and anger over what they claimed was defrauding.

According to one of the attendees, Agradaa had taken ¢2,000 from some without “doubling it as promised in her advertisement”.

One woman was captured cursing the evangelist and her junior pastors.

Agraada pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

However, she was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour.
