GAF Recruitment Stampede: Heads Overseeing Recruitment Directed to Step Aside- Brogya Genfi

The Deputy Minister for Defence, Brogya Genfi, says military leaders overseeing the recruitment exercise have been directed to step aside.
This, he said, is to make way for a full inquiry.
He noted that recruitment processes in Accra remain suspended until further notice, while exercises in other regions continue smoothly.
Health Update
According to him, five of the victims are still at the Intensive Care Unit, with two improving steadily.
“Thirteen patients at TSEU are stable and under further management. The rest have been treated and discharged for follow-up care.”
Deceased
So far, he said, all families of the six deceased persons have been identified and contacted.
“A government delegation including myself, together with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Senior Officers of the Ministry of Defence Ghana and the Ghana Armed Forces, the CEO of the National Youth Authority, the concerned MPs and MMDCEs, has visited some of the bereaved families to convey condolences on behalf of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama and assure them of government’s support.”
Extending his condolences to the bereaved families and solidarity with the injured, he affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and dignity of all applicants.
