Samreboi Raid: 4 Women Among 47 Illegal Miners Arrested

The police have arrested four women among forty-seven suspected illegal miners within the Samreboi enclave in the Western Region.
They were reportedly engaged in illegal mining activities along the Tano River and in the Aboi, Subri and Nimiri forests of the Western Region.
A statement by the police said they were nabbed in the course of a special four continuous days intelligence-led anti-galamsey which began on April 17, 2025.
The police called this a “major breakthrough” in its war against illegal mining popularly known as galamsey.
Also among the suspects were eight Chinese.
“All the suspects are in custody and will be taken through the due process of the law.”
Exhibits retrieved during the operation were seventeen excavators, one bulldozer, four motorbikes, two Toyota Hilux vehicles, one Rav4 vehicle and four pump action guns.
They also retrieved one single-barrel gun, fifty-four live BB cartridges and eight pumping machines.
