Things Are Getting Better- Akufo-Addo

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has asserted that the country is transitioning into better economic times thanks to the commitment and attitude of his government.

Speaking at the Eid ul-Adha celebration at the Black Star Square in Accra on Wednesday, he said the government is working to restore the economy on its feet as he promised when he said he “knew how to bring the economy back”.

“Things are getting better,” he said before assuring things “will get better.”

He referenced stability in the cedi’s performance against other major currencies, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first quarter and fuel price stability.

“As you can see, we are beginning to navigate the turbulence, with our economy growing by 4.2% in the first quarter of 2023.”

“The currency has seen some stability lately, and through the Gold For Oil programme, we have seen the stability in prices of petroleum products as well, all of which are bringing inflation down.”

He further urged the Muslim community and Ghanaians at large to support the government as it works to revive the economy.

“Muslim faithful, fellow Ghanaians, in the spirit of Eid, I ask you to continue to support the government, your government, to deliver the needed progress and prosperity that we all seek.”
