Ambrose Dery Did Nothing As Interior Minister Except to Announce Holidays

Isaac Amoah, the Managing Editor of the New Trust Newspaper, did not hold back in his assessment of Ambrose Dery’s tenure as Interior Minister, alleging that Dery’s sole accomplishment was issuing holiday announcements.

Amoah made these remarks during a spirited panel discussion on Opemsuo Radio’s Nkwantannanso with Kofi Boakye on February 14.

I don’t see what Ambrose Dery does, his responsibility apart from holiday announcements. All the insecurity cases, I don’t see his proactiveness. That Nana Addo was busily praising for 7 years, and now when reshuffling, you change? You give him a post at the presidency to do what?” Amoah questioned, expressing frustration with Dery’s perceived lack of action in addressing security concerns.

He went on to praise President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for finally initiating the long-awaited ministerial reshuffle.

“Yes, we all know they have delayed in doing the reshuffling, but they can do something in these 10 months if they are serious,” he emphasized.

In the latest reshuffle announced by the Jubilee House on Wednesday, February 14, 13 sector ministers and 13 deputy ministers were affected.

Six ministers were reassigned, including Ambrose Dery, who was reassigned as Minister of State at the presidency, while three former deputy ministers were promoted to sector ministers.

However, the minority in parliament criticized the timing of the reshuffle, dubbing it “dead on arrival” and expressing doubts about its effectiveness.
