I Never Said “I’ll Sell My Seat If Bawumia Is Mistakenly Elected as Flagbearer”- Weija-Gbawe MP

The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has disclaimed a statement opposing the Presidential bid of former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

He is reported to have said, “I Dare My NPP—I’ll Sell My Seat If Bawumia Is Mistakenly Elected as Flagbearer.”

However, in a communique, he denied the statement as false.

“I categorically deny ever making such a statement. I have not granted any interview, formal or informal, expressing such views. The story is entirely false, malicious, and clearly intended to mislead the public and sow division within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).”

According to the 2nd Deputy Minority Whip, the fabrication is defamatory and calculated to lower his hard-earned reputation before right-thinking members of society.

“It is worth noting that the media outlet in question could not even provide details of when, where, or how this so-called interview was conducted—further proving the fictitious nature of the story.”

He further demanded a stop to the continuous circulation of the article, full retraction of the story and an unqualified public apology from the originator.

“Failure to comply will leave me with no choice but to pursue legal action to protect my name, integrity, and the dignity of the office I hold,” he noted.
