Firefighters Avert Fuel Tanker Explosion on Accra-Kumasi Highway

Firefighters on Tuesday morning averted a potential fuel tanker explosion at New Jejeti on the Accra-Kumasi highway.

The tanker with registration number GT 6870-24 was said to be carrying 54,000 litres when it got involved in the accident.

Officers of the Anyinam Fire Station responded to the scene, the Ghana National Fire Service said in a statement.

“The Anyinam Fire Station received a distress call reporting a fuel tanker accident at New Jejeti on the Accra-Kumasi highway.”

The officers cooled the tanker to salvage the situation.

“The firefighters successfully averted a potential explosion by cooling and monitoring the tanker until the situation was fully brought under control to prevent any possible disaster.”
