Amartey Injury Sidelines Him In Comoros Clash

An injury has sidelined Daniel Amartey from Ghana’s Tuesday clash against Comoros in the second 2026 World Cup qualifier in Moroni.

A statement by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) disclosed he failed fitness test for the clash and missed training on Sunday due to the injury.

It also revealed the extent of the injury could not be captured by an MRI scan.

“Although MRI scans did not reveal any obvious injury, his clinical progress as monitored by the medical team has been rather slow, making him unavailable for the Black Stars ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Comoros.”

The Beşiktaş defender, who had missed the country’s last Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central Africa Republic (CAR) in September, started in Friday’s qualifier against Madagascar but was forced off in the 63rd minute due to a suspected hamstring injury.

The 29-year-old was substituted with Kasim Nuhu.

The Black Stars will face Comoros after their 1-0 victory against Madagascar in Kumasi on November 17.
