Police Arrest Two For Threatening Prez Mahama and Wife

The police have arrested two individuals who reportedly issued threats against the President, HE John Dramani Mahama and his wife, HE Lordina Mahama.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service identified them as Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu.

Their arrest, the police said, followed the commencement of an investigation into a viral TikTok video threatening the lives of the first family.

The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting the ongoing investigation, while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist the investigation.

Meanwhile, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) deems the arrest to be politically motivated.

In a Facebook post, the National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye, condemned the action.

“Instead of allowing the families and the nation the solemn space to mourn, the government appears determined to drag the tragedy into political controversy.“
