Strike Is On- CLOGSAG

The Civil Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has directed its members to prepare for the commencement of their strike action tomorrow, February 20.

The Executive Secretary of the Association, Isaac Bampoe said the strike notice that was issued last week has not been cancelled despite assurances by the government to grant their demand.

“The strike is on.”

“From all indications, the officer (Mr Samuel Adom Botchwey) is still at post as he represented the Births and Deaths Registry at the budget hearing at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs on Monday, February 17, 2025.”

The group is opposing the appointment of Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births & Deaths Registry, citing his political affiliation with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

At a press conference two weeks ago, the group stated that his partisanship rendered him unqualified to assume the role as it emphasised its commitment to ensuring neutrality at the Civil and Local Government Services.
In a subsequent press release dated February 13, members of CLOGSAG were directed to lay down their tools effective Thursday in response to the assumption of office by the appointee.
