Ghana Offers Scholarships to 1000 West Africans

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana will be offering free tertiary education to students from the West African sub-region.

The scholarship will be available to 1,000 West Africans.

He announced this at the launch of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) 50th Anniversary celebration in Accra on April 22, 2025.

“To mark this moment and strengthen regional bonds, Ghana is offering a thousand scholarships to tertiary students from across the ECOWAS subregion to study in our universities.”

He envisions this to bridge differences among West Africans.

“This is not just a gesture. It is an act of solidarity. It is a bridge to a future where our young people will grow up seeing each other not as foreigners but as partners.”
