Bechem United’s Konkoni Makes It Onto Black Stars Squad

The 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League season’s highest goal scorer, Hafiz Konkoni, has been handed a call-up to the Black Stars.

He becomes the only footballer in the local team to make it onto the Black Stars.

His late call-up earns him an opportunity to join the already-called squad to face Madagascar on June 18 at Antananarivo.

Konkoni played 26 matches and scored 15 goals for Bechem United in the just-ended betPawa Premier League campaign- the highest in the League.

The Black Stars squad now include Ati-Zigi, Joseph Wollacott, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams, Kwasi Okyere Wriedt, Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Majeed Ashimeru, Salis Abdul Samed and Edmund Addo.

Also are Denis Odoi, Alidu Seidu, Gideon Mensah, Patrick Kpozo, Daniel Amartey, Joseph Aidoo, Alexander Djiku, Nicholas Opoku, Joseph Painstil, Osman Bukari, KamalDeen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah and Hafiz Konkoni.

Ghana currently sits atop Group E alongside Madagascar, Angola and Central African Republic.

Chris Hughton’s side secured 8 points after four games recording two wins and two draws.
