Inflation Climbs To 37.2%
The Consumer Price Inflation (CPI) for September 2022 has risen to 37.2%, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) published.
The rate was pushed by elements including housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel which rose to 68.8%; furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance {51.5%}; Transport {46.8%}; personal care, social protection, miscellaneous goods and service {42.6%}; and food and nonalcoholic beverages{37.8%}.
The rest saw inflation rates below the national average rate.
Food inflation recorded 37.8%, whereas non-food inflation rose to 36.8%.
Inflation for locally produced goods recorded 35.8%, while that of imported items recorded 40.7%.
The Eastern region, Greater Accra Region and Central Region recorded the highest inflation rates regionally.
Eastern saw 47.1%, Greater Accra saw 45.3% and Central recorded 41.9%.
The rest of the regions recorded inflation rates below the national average.
Ghana recorded an inflation rate of 33.9% last month.
