Ghana Water Shuts Weija Treatment Plant

The Management of the Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has shut down the Weija Treatment Plant in the Accra West Region.

Characterising it as an emergency shutdown, it said it was to make way for urgent repair works.

“As a result, water supply would be interrupted from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 18th November 2025.”

This will affect water supply to Korle-Bu, Dansoman, Mamprobi, Parts of Weija, Gbawe, Malam, Anyaa, Kwashieman, Ablekuma, Darkuman, Kaneshie, Tesano, Odorkor, Sowutuom, Lapaz, parts of Achimota, North Industrial Area, and adjoining communities.

Apologising for the anticipated challenges, it said engineers were actively working to resume the water supply.

“Our Engineers are on-site, working hard to ensure that the work is completed on schedule. We regret the inconvenience caused.”
