Otumfuo Is God’s Gift to Humanity- Most Rev Kwabena Boafo

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Most Rev Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo has expressed gratitude to God for the gift of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the 16th Occupant of the Golden Stool.

Delivering a sermon at the Thanksgiving Service in honour of the 25th Enstoolment Anniversary of the King at the Manhyia Palace on Friday, April 26, 2024, the clergyman outlined some evident achievements of the King as the basis for his emphatic statement.

“There is peace on every side. He has been a symbol and an embodiment of peace for our nation, community and the world. Through him, we are enjoying peace in the nation. He has restored peace in so many parts of the country. We indeed thank God for him.

“He has been standing in defence of boy child and girl child education offering scholarships to a million underprivileged young people. He also plays a crucial role in politics in Ghana, offering priceless advice to all politicians who come to him.”

With these and many more all crediting and faming the King, Most Rev Kwabena Boafo judged that he is a gift to humanity.

“Asanteman thanks God for this gift to humanity.”

He noted that His Majesty has dignified the chieftaincy institution as he has redefined it and challenged others to follow suit.

“You have dignified the Chieftaincy institution and restored respect to it. Now we are changing our narrative around it. Through you we know it revolves around the pursuit for development. Many can testify to this…Through your leadership, we know chieftaincy is not about selling and squandering proceeds from sale of lands and it’s not about intimidating others.”

As part of his 25th enstoolment anniversary, Otumfuo held a non-denominational thanksgiving service at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Friday, April 26, 2024.

The event held at the Dwabrem grounds of the Palace witnessed offerings of prayers, worship, praises, a sermon, musical performances by renowned gospel artistes and a speech by the King.

Clergymen who participated included Most Rev Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana; Most Rev Peter Kwesi Sarpong, Catholic Archbishop Emeritus; Most Rev Gabriel Justice Anokye, Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi; and Most Rev Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith, Anglican Bishop of Asante Mampong and Archbishop of Ghana and the Church of the Province of West Africa.

Also present were Most Rev Prof Daniel Sarfo, Anglican Archbishop Emeritus; Most Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante, Past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana; Rev Dr Seth Frimpong Coleman, AE Zion Church; Rev Samuel Yeboah, Ashanti Presbytery Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana; RT Rev Stephen Owusu, Kumasi Diocese Archbishop; and RT Rev Nu-Ben Abubeker, Past Kumasi Diocesan Methodist Bishop.

Denominations that were present included the Church of Pentecost, Power Chapel Worldwide, Anglican Church, Faith Convention, Methodist Church Ghana, Deeper Life Bible Church, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Christ Apostolic Church International, Seventh Day Adventist, Spirit Life Community, International Central Gospel Church, Assemblies of God Ghana, Church of Christ Spiritual Movement, Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries, and Embassy of Life Chapel.
