Council Of State Convinces GUTA To Rescind Shop Closure

The Council of State has succeeded in convincing the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) to rescind its planned protest.

GUTA directed all its members to close down their shops in Accra on Monday, August 29, 2022.

The closure was to protest against the consistent depreciation of the cedi which it said has dissolved the capital of its members.

But after a meeting with the Council of State on August 25, 2022, the President of the Association, Dr Joseph Obeng, said it has rescinded its decision.

“Our members are not going to be happy but truth be said that we have to listen to good counsel coming from no other place than the Council of State. Indeed we have put a stop to this intended action on Monday”.
