How BECE Aggregates Are Calculated For SHS Placements

According to the Ghana Education Service (GES), a Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate’s aggregate for placement into second cycle institutions is determined by adding the grades obtained in the four core subjects plus the 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀.

The core subjects are 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀.

For instance: 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 + 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 + 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 + 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 + [𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀].

While the 𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 remain the 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 for school placement, it noted that the overall aggregate also serves as a good determinant in the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

In a statement, the GES reminded the public that the 𝗖𝗦𝗦𝗣𝗦 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 and encouraged candidates to log in via the official link [https://www.cssps.gov.gh/hub/login] to confirm their school choices.

“If you have any concerns or notice any discrepancies, kindly use the ‘𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲’ 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 on the portal to submit them. The 𝟮𝟰-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗦𝗦𝗣𝗦 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 is on standby to provide every support you need to make the process smooth.”

The portal will remain active until 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 8, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱.
