Senior Presidential Advisor Demands Rerun of Ablekuma North Parliamentary Elections

The Senior Presidential Advisor for Governmental Affairs, Dr Valerie Esther Sawyerr, has called for a rerun of the Parliamentary elections in Ablekuma North Constituency.
The constituency has been left without a representative in Parliament as both candidates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claim victory with the declaration of the results still pending.
According to her, the only fair means to approach the situation is for a fresh election in the constituency.
“Adukwei, order a re-run at the sixty-two (62) polling stations of Ablekuma North Constituency where you used NPP scanned pink sheets for collation… and stop wasting our time with diabolic drama,” she wrote in an open letter to the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Adukwei Mensah.
Background
Violence marred the collation process at the collation centre in December, leading to the destruction of a number of carbonated pink sheets.
Valerie reports that carbonated pink sheets were used to collate the results of 219 out of the 281 polling stations of the Constituency.
“At this point, there were no more carbonated pink sheets from the EC, the NDC or the NPP to continue the collation exercise. The NPP then attempted to present scanned pink sheets to continue the collation exercise.”
She said the EC Director of Elections, Dr. Benjamin Bannor Bio, declared that no scanned pink sheets would be accepted in the collation process, however, on January 5, 2025, Dr. Sereboe Quaicoe, EC Director for Training, instructed the Returning Officer to accept the NPP’s scanned pink sheets.
In compliance, 42 scanned pink sheets were accepted by the EC for collation amidst serious opposition from the NDC, she said.
