Police Call For Assistance In Identifying Accident Victims

The Police in Juaso and Nkawkaw have called for assistance in identifying victims of a road accident which occurred last week along the Juaso-Nkawkaw road.

Twenty-one (21) persons were reported dead with several others sustaining life-threatening injuries in a head-on collision between a transit mini bus with registration number GR 6279-24 from Konongo towards Accra and a VW Sprinter bus with registration No. AS 4483-23.

According to a police statement, the minibus driver carelessly overtook some vehicles and collided head-on with an oncoming VW Sprinter Bus.

“Surviving victims are currently receiving medical attention at the Juaso Government Hospital, Stewards Hospital at Yawkwei, Konongo Municipal Hospital and Asante Akim Agogo Presbyterian Hospital.

“Meanwhile, the bodies of the 21 deceased persons have been deposited at the Stewards Hospital mortuary at Yawkwei, Konongo Municipal Hospital mortuary and Juaso Government Hospital mortuary for identification, preservation and autopsy,” the police said.

Public assistance has been sought in that regard with the police urging relatives of persons who were scheduled for a trip on that road on March 15, 2024, to contact the Juaso and Nkawkaw Police Commands.
