Crime Has No Expiration- Gender Ministry As it Acknowledges Receipt of Abuse Footage

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has expressed its resolve to clamp down on all forms of abuse, affirming that crime has no expiry.

Acknowledging receipt of numerous reports and videos circulating across various media, both recent and old video footage, it commended the public’s vigilance regarding the matters.

“Indeed, we need all hands on deck, and we will continue to count on you to report incidents of abuse and support efforts to protect the vulnerable in our society.”

It also assured the public that every issue brought to its attention will be treated with utmost seriousness.

Meanwhile, it said some victims of abuse cases before it are currently receiving the necessary psychosocial and legal support, including placement in safe shelters where needed, in collaboration with the Police, civil society organisations, and all relevant agencies involved in the fight against violence.

It also emphasised that investigations will be conducted into each case to ensure that perpetrators of these acts are held accountable.

“Crime has no expiration. To ensure transparency and keep the public informed, the Ministry, in collaboration with the Police, will provide periodic updates on cases under investigation. We continue to encourage the public to report incidents of abuse through our call centres, as the protection of the vulnerable is a collective responsibility.”
