Hon. Onyina Acheampong Disagrees with President Mahama’s Independence Day Celebration Approach

The Member of Parliament for Kwabre East Constituency, Hon. Onyina Akwasi Gyamfi Acheampong, has expressed disagreement with President John Dramani Mahama’s scaled-down approach to the celebration of Independence Day.
Hon. Acheampong emphasized his support for the reintroduction of a rotational system for Independence Day celebrations, a practice initiated by the previous administration under President Akufo-Addo, which he believes would ensure regional balance and provide an economic boost across the country.
He made these remarks during a mini Independence Day celebration held at the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly on Thursday, March 6, 2025, as part of Ghana’s 68th Independence Anniversary.
The event featured cultural performances from selected schools and was attended by several notable figures, including the MP, Municipal Coordinating Director Mr. Francis Kyei, Kwabre East Municipal Education Director Amakomhene Nana Adu Mensah Asare, and traditional authorities.
Additionally, Hon. Acheampong voiced his support for President Mahama’s “reset” agenda, which encourages Ghanaians, particularly those in the Kwabre East Constituency, to adopt a renewed mindset towards national development.
