2025 Otumfuo Reading Challenge Finalists to Take Sponsored Trip to UK- Otumfuo Informed

The five finalists of the 2025 edition of the Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge (OCRC) will get an all-paid trip to the United Kingdom (UK) early next year.
This was formally communicated to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otmfuo Osei Tutu II, by the Chairman of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF), Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II.
He conveyed the news when he joined the Awukudae Festival at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on December 3, 2025, to introduce the all-girls finalists and the subsequent winner, Freda Owusuwaa Acheampong.
Reporting on the event, Nana Hiahene said, “We concluded the fourth edition of the reading challenge. There were 60 Champions, and later, the five went into the finals. All five were girls. Today, we brought them for introduction to the King and His Majesty’s blessings.”
He further noted that Asanteman UK had agreed to, as part of the prizes, sponsor the first three winners to the UK, while Nana Nuben Sra III, Tredehene, had committed to sponsoring the trip for the remaining two.
Nana Hiahene affirmed that paperwork processing is currently underway for the five to leave the country in January for holidays.
He further introduced the representatives of the sponsors to the Monarch.
Rose Korkor, representing Kunsu, came second in the competition, with Afia Henewah Annin, representative of Obuasi, coming third.
Magdalene Duodu Akwabang, rep of Twedie, and Josephine Afrifa Kuffour, rep of Kwadaso, respectively placed fourth and fifth.
