US City of Savannah Supports Otumfuo Foundation

A delegation from the United States of America (USA) Savannah City Council has donated money in support of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF).
The Council first heard about the Foundation in 2002 when Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, visited the city.
The Council has since been monitoring the commendable and life-changing activities of the NGO.
Twenty-three years down the line, it has offered support to the Foundation.
The donation was presented by Dr Joseph Silver who led the delegation to the Manhyia Palace on July 16, 2025.

Presenting it, he said, “Your Majesty when you came to Savannah, Georgia, we remember that you announced your educational fund for the Asante people. On behalf of the Mayor, we want to give you fund for the education fund. We admire you for putting education at the top of your tenure. Therefore we want to present you with this to put in the Fund.”
The team which included Mayor Van Johnson also presented the key to city to Otumfuo, granting His Majesty an unrestricted access.
“The key to the city in our tradition is the highest honour we give and although we know His Majesty visited in 2002, we will welcome him back as soon as he is able and his schedule allows.”
Another symbolic gift was presented in expression of the group’s extreme gratitude for the hospitality and graciousness of the King.
