Asantehene’s Vals Gift To Lady Julia Delivered

It is said that “true giving from the heart is an expression of love”, and that is exactly what His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II portrayed when he had his roses and painting sent to Lady Julia at their residence at the Manhyia Palace.

The gifts were delivered by Ghana Post Company Limited on Monday, February 13, 2023, as part of the 2023 “Vals on Wheels”.

It will be recalled that last month, the Managing Director of the Company, Mr Bice Osei Kuffour, affectionately called Obuor, proposed to deliver present from the King to his wife on the day of love as part of the Company’s innovative initiatives.

The programme this year is seeing not just the MD of the Company taking on the role of a courier but also celebrities.

The delivery of the King’s presents at the Manhyia Palace was done with Kumawood stars including Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi known in showbiz as Dr Likee, Matilda Asare and Shifo.

In an interview on Opemsuo Radio ahead of the delivery, Mr Osei Kuffuor disclosed, “We came here not quite long ago to propose a collaboration this valentine and he {Otumfuo} accepted it. We are here to deliver the gift of the King to Lady Julia.”

The team also delivered presents to Ejisumanhemaa, Nana Yaa Asantewaa II, Asante Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakoma Difie II, Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Mrs Rita Akosua Dickson and many others on Monday.

Presents
Fresh roses, a beautiful impasto of Lady Julia and an unknown present were delivered to the King’s wife.

Mr Osei Kuffour presented the roses while Dr Likee and Matilda repectively presented the portrait and the boxed present.

In his presentation, Obour said, “some time ago, we told the King we would like to deliver his present for you. This is fresh roses and specially huff flowers from your husband.”

Dr Likee who decided to make his delivery in the English Language said, “I am here to make a presentation of the pencil art (impasto).”

Receiving them, Lady Julia appreciated the efforts of the Company and wished them well.

“I thank you for this. I pray that your Company flourish just as it is doing now.”

Val’s On Wheels
Val’s on Wheels was introduced in 2022 by the Management of Ghana Post, affording Ghanaians the opportunity to send presents to their loved ones on Valentine’s Day.

It is among the company’s innovative initiatives to woo Ghanaians to patronise its services.

This year, the discount is for residents of Kumasi. Intra City delivery fee for people in Kumasi has been pegged at GH¢20, intercity at GHC60 and Intra-campus delivery at GHC10.

Those in Accra will pay GHc30 for intra-city deliveries.

“We have a special discount for residents in Kumasi. We take GHc20 when we deliver goods in Kumasi. Our couriers will come for your present and present it to your loved ones wherever they are…We now do intercity deliveries. From Kumasi to Accra or Cape Coast or Sunyani is GHC60. Within Campus is 10”, Obour said during the interview.

He said some lucky customers will have their favourite celebrities deliver their presents.

“If you are lucky enough, your favourite celebrity will be the one to deliver your present. Matilda Asare, Bill Asamoah, Dr Likee and many other celebrities have collaborated for this initiative.”

Persons seeking to use their services may call 0208168477 or dial *447*160#, select 4 to request a delivery and then follow the prompt.

In an interview with Opemsuo Radio, actress Matilda Asare encouraged Ghanaians to patronise the services of the Company this Valentine and beyond.

“We have noticed Obuor has changed the face of Ghana Post so we have dedicated ourselves to help in that regard. I have already made a lot of deliveries so if you have anything to deliver, call our numbers and we will make the delivery. There are several other celebrities.”
