Ghana Shouldn’t Be Getting Any Aid- Franklin Cudjoe

The founder and President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has asserted that Ghana does not deserve to be granted aid by international agencies, seeing the level of extravagance the country showcases at all levels.
Despite always being at the doorsteps of international bodies for aid, he indicated that the country fails to cut its coat according to its size when it comes to expenditure.
This was in response to the financial entitlements received by the outgoing Managing Director of SIC Insurance, Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, despite the losses incurred by the agency under her leadership.
“If the salary had resulted in a commensurate additional value to the company, I’d have no problem with that! But the state pays these sums across most dying and dead SOEs, and you wonder why we need just $150m from the USAID?” he wrote in a Facebook post.
“Add outright theft and fraudulent deals such as ones supervised by the Electoral Commission, Communications Ministry under the immediate past government and the $1m per constituency heist that was raided by a gun-wielding mafioso queen and you will see that we should not be getting any aid at all,” he continued.
He noted that he would rather the country shut down 98% of SOEs and sell potentially productive ones immediately.
A court document that went viral on Thursday revealed Ms Duah-Yentumi earned a gross monthly salary of GH₵70,000, with annual earnings of GH₵840,000 plus a clothing allowance of GH₵84,000 per year, an entertainment allowance of GH₵7,000 per month, a canteen allowance of GH₵850 monthly, a professional allowance of GH₵1,200 and payments for personal staff, including GH₵3,000 each for house help and personal security, as well as GH₵2,000 for a gardener.
This has courted public backlash.
