Suspect Who Threatened to Shoot IGP and Interior Minister Apprehended
A suspect identified as Ibrahim Mohammed has been rounded up by the police after he was flagged as a Wanted Person with an accompanying bounty on his head.
He was arrested two days after he was subjected to a manhunt by the police.
A statement issued by the police on Wednesday read, “The Ghana Police Service has today, 11th September 2024 arrested suspect Ibrahim Mohammed for threatening to shoot and harm some public officials. “
He is currently in Police custody and scheduled to be subjected to the legal process.
Background
The suspect in a viral video had the Inspector-General of Police, Dr George Akufo Dampare, the Interior Minister, Henry Quartey and the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah on target, threatening to shoot them.
He accused the IGP and the Interior Minister of secret recruitment into the Service purposely to help manipulate the upcoming election and declared violence and bloodshed during the polls.
In a swift response, the Service released a press statement declaring him wanted and placing GH¢50,000 bounty on his head for anyone who could furnish it with the relevant information leading to his arrest.
