Students from A/R more beneficiaries of Gov’t Scholarship – Scholarship Secretariat

Majority of students who benefited from the government scholarship last year were applicants from the Ashanti Region comparatively to other regions supported financially as part of plans to assist brilliant but needy students in various educational institutions across the country.
“Out of Seventy-five thousand applicants, fifteen thousand are from the Ashanti Region”, Registrar at the Scholarship Secretariat, Mr. Kingsley Agyemang told journalists in Kumasi during a press briefing.

According to the Registrar, the Akufo-Addo led government has made it possible for students both in public and private institutions to benefit from the national cake by assisting qualified students financially in rolling out various programs in their respective institutions.
“The current administration unlike the erstwhile John Mahama administration have paid arrears of international and local students so we don’t hear anymore that Ghanaian students abroad are suffering” , the Registrar added as 2020/21 academic year scholarship commences.
According to Mr. Agyemang, ,government has voted ¢80,000,000 aiming to cover all qualified applicants for 2020/21 academic year
“This is to make sure that more people have access to tertiary education. The scholarship has been brought to the peoples’ doorsteps.”, the Registrar affirmed.
