Stop the Blame Game; Bawumia to NPP Supporters

Unsuccessful Presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pleaded for unity among the party folks following their defeat in the Presidential elections.

In a meeting with some party executives on December 10, two days after his historic defeat concession, he urged party supporters to abandon the blame game over the defeat.

According to him, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) did not win the election rather the NPP lost massive votes, giving the opponents the victory.

“We went into the election and we failed to achieve our expectations. That is why we accepted and conceded defeat but that does not mean it’s over. We have lost a battle and not a war. I want to encourage you all.

“As you can see, we gave the victory to the NDC. They didn’t win. The votes they obtained didn’t change compared to the 2020 elections. Ours reduced by 40% so the analysis is simple.”

He believes it will take concerted efforts by all members to correct the wrongs and not blame anyone.

“What I want us all to know is that ‘united we stand, divided we fall’. This time, everyone is sad and we are in pain. I’ve seen many people in pain. I have an abiding belief in God so I know no one questions the plan of God.

“His ways are not ours and that’s why we most often do not understand his ways. It might be the best for you. Don’t resort to blaming people out of pain. The blame game will destroy. Let’s come together. We were at fault and so we have to review what to do and by 2028 we will win united.”

He continued, “We need unity. Stop the blame game let’s look at the future….at this stage we are looking to build the party again. It’s not about individual ambition. Let’s build the party. Once the party is ready, we will go for the main event.”
