Stick to Your Promises when Elected; Nananom to Bawumia

The Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) has enjoined Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to uphold and deliver his promises to traditional authorities if elected President.

The Council satisfied with some reviews the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) intends to make regarding the Chieftaincy Act and restoring some relinquished powers, said it would hold him accountable if he reneges.

During a visit to the Manhyia Palace to receive the blessings of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II ahead of the Presidential Elections, the Kontire Division re-echoed all the promises he has made.

“The last time we met at the Regional House, you promised to support chiefs, restore our power of summon, restore our power of consent and cost of living allowance. All these will require boldness to implement. Make sure you do as you have said when you get power.”

The Oyoko Division on its part called for the decentralization of government powers and privatization of some state enterprises. At the same time, the Nkosuo Division urged him to fulfil his promises when gets Ghanaians to vote him in.

“You have a good message and must stick to the promises when you get elected. We will always be here to hold you accountable when you fail.”

The Vice President alongside some NPP members and Executives were at the Manhyia Palace on June 12, 2024.
