SSNIT Cautions Against the Use of Middlemen in Benefit Claims
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has urged clients to desist from contracting the services of ‘middlemen’ or ‘agents’ in the process of claiming benefits.
Public Affairs Manager for SSNIT, Mr. Charles Akwei Garshong, speaking in an interview with Opemsuo News emphatically stated that one does not need the services of a middleman or what others may refer to as agents to process a client’s documents for pension benefits.
“There are people posing as agents claiming that they can help clients claim their benefits easily and strike a deal with our clients. Let me state categorically that you don’t need a middleman or any agent before your claims can be paid.”
He explained that SSNIT has simplified their applications and claims processes to be friendlier to the extent that one would not need the assistance of a third party no matter the educational background or qualification of the client.
According Mr. Garshong, “once you have your statements and any necessary documents intact, within two weeks after retirement you will get your benefits without any hindrance”.
He further explained that “you only have to walk into any nearby SSNIT office with your bank details and tell them you have attained the retirement age you will get paid easily”.
His comments come against the backdrop of the fact that some clients, out of ignorance, engage the services of self-proclaimed agents to assist them in accessing their pension benefits or SSNIT entitlements. These individuals agree to pay a percentage of their benefits to these so-called agents.
