Sports Minister Motivates Black Satellites Ahead of Nigeria Clash

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has egged the Black Satellites on as they are booked in a showdown against Nigeria in the West African Football Union (WAFU) B U-20 Cup of Nations Championship finals.

The boys have been given the needed morale and encouragement ahead of the game earlier today.

The game will be played at 7 pm at Stade Kegue in Togo and Coach Desmond Offei’s side is hoping to snatch the title from the Nigerians.

In a statement, the Ministry reminded the team of their mandate which is to represent the interest of the over 30 million Ghanaians on the field.

“This is the moment to shine, to showcase the hard work, dedication and passion that has brought you to this point. We urge you to consider every tackle and every kick as the chance to lift the trophy and bring pride and glory to our country.”

It also reminded the team of the country’s unflinching support, adding, “Enjoy the moment, play from your heart and give it your best.”

The advancement to the finals means that both Ghana and Nigeria have automatically qualified for the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Meanwhile, the 2025 U20 AFCON will serve as the African qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, where the four semi-finalists will qualify automatically.
