Speaker Of Parliament Has No Persona – Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu

The Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has stated that the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin has no persona in Parliament.

“He has no power to give instructions, he doesn’t have that power, and Parliament only gives him power so I never expected his comment that “I can remove Akufo-Addo from office; he can’t remove me”.

Speaking in an interview on Opemsuo radio’s Morning show Nkwantananso on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, the Minister for parliamentary affairs added that the Speaker of Parliament has no right to participate in the doings in the house.

According to him, the Speaker of Parliament has to conclude and communicate the activities of the house to the general public.

“If he has that power, then he can sit at the comfort of his office and issue directives, Parliament has the sole right of removing the President through an absolute majority vote”, he said.
