Speak Up When State-owned Enterprises are Being Atrociously Managed; Mahama to Employees

President John Dramani Mahama has encouraged employees of State-owned Enterprises (SoEs) to draw public attention to the poor management of his appointees.

He urged workers not to act nonchalant in such instances as they are the most impacted when they fold up.

Speaking at the Organised Labour event on May Day on May 1, 2025, President Mahama reminded them that the enterprises are their properties.

“Many of you work in state-owned enterprises that have been atrociously managed over the last eight years. I urge you not to keep quiet when management is driving your enterprise into ruin.”

“You are always the first to be affected by job losses when these institutions collapse. Your enterprise where you work belongs to you. They guarantee you lifelong employment and so you must protect those Enterprises.”

He promised to support candid efforts to make SoEs effective.

“When things are going wrong, do not be afraid to say so and as President I will back and support you to set things right.”

He highlighted poor management as the cause of the huge debt that has swallowed almost all state enterprises.
