South Korea’s Yonsei University Confers Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration on Mahama

Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, has conferred an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Public Administration on President John Dramani Mahama.

The honour was bestowed in recognition of his contributions to Ghana’s national transformation and economic development, as well as his leadership in public service and democratic governance.

The conferment formed part of President Mahama’s engagements during his visit to the Republic of Korea, further underscoring the strong and enduring relations between Ghana and South Korea.

In his welcome address, the President of Yonsei University, Professor Dong-Sup Yoon, stated that the head of state has embodied and advanced the values of democracy, social justice, economic development, and regional cooperation throughout his career.

“President John Dramani Mahama is a distinguished leader who has served his nation with dedication across many levels of public service, including as Member of Parliament, Minister, Vice President, and President.”

The ceremony took place on Friday, March 13, 2026, during the President’s working visit to South Korea.

According to the Jubilee House, the honour reflects the strong and enduring relations between Ghana and South Korea and the shared commitment to education, innovation and global partnership.
