Some Will Be Disappointed; Mahama to Ministerial Appointment Seekers
President John Dramani Mahama has stated that some of the thousands of members of his party who are seeking Ministerial appointments under his administration would end up being disappointed.
The new President disclosed at his inaugural dinner on January 8, 2025, that he had received countless applications and CVs from appointment seekers.
He however reminded them that he had promised to run the country with a lean government of 60 Ministers and therefore an imminent disappointment for many of the applicants.
He is unwilling to go back on his word to Ghanaians which earned him the position and is determined to appoint only competent persons to the tasks.
“You wouldn’t want to be in my shoes when you’ve promised to appoint only 60 ministers, yet thousands of people are sending in their CVs. Then maybe some people will be disappointed.”
He believes his government would be able to secure another term from Ghanaians if they are able to effectively and efficiently manage the country’s affairs with the appointments he makes.
“The success of this administration will secure us another term, perhaps under a different leader. But we must get this right so that Ghanaians can continue to have confidence in us,” he remarked.
On January 9, the Office of the President announced the nomination of Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson as Minister for Finance Designate, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor as Minister for Energy Designate and Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayini as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Designate.
