Somè SHS Matron, 2 Others Suspended Over Alleged Food Theft
Three staff of Somè Senior High School (SHS) in the Volta Region have been suspended by the Ghana Education Service (GES) over allegations of food theft.
The three include Richard Ametorxe, the Bursar, Yorm Dzikumu, the matron and Alex Obuadi, the storekeeper.
Their interdiction was publicly announced in a statement on May 27, 2024 by the Head of the Public Relations Unit of the Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo.
The statement announced a committee has been set up to investigate the incident and present their findings within two weeks.
“The three officers are to hand over to the Headmaster of the school,” it added.
Background
Reports indicate that the three were caught on Friday, May 24, 2024, carting some food items meant for the students to their homes by the Assembly Member of Logove Electoral Area, Ibrahim Ayuba.
They were reported to the police and subsequently arrested.
Following their arraignment on Monday, it is reported that they have been remanded into police custody.
