Six arrested over illegal AK 47 transaction
Six individuals were arrested on Friday (December) for their alleged involvement in an unlawful AK-47 sale by the Ghana Police Service.
Alhassan Jamah, Bashiru Salifu, Kassim Aninga, Mohammed Asako, Salifu James, and Ibrahim Mohammed are the six individuals.
The first suspect, Alhassan Jamah, was apprehended near Osino by the National Operations Directorate Highway patrol during a stop and search operation, according to a police statement released on Monday (6 December 2021).
“On an Accra-Bawku bound Yuton bus, an AK 47 weapon with twelve rounds of ammo was discovered stashed in his travel luggage,” the police statement continued.
The other five were eventually arrested for their alleged involvement in an illicit guns trade, according to the police.
