Silly Mistakes of Players Led to Draw – Kudus
The ‘Man of the Match’ award receiver in the Ghana-Egypt clash in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, Mohammed Kudus has admitted silly mistakes on their part denied them the much-needed win.
He indicated that the Middle Eastern country capitalized on those mistakes on two occasions to level the scoreline.
Kudus scored all two goals that put Ghana in the lead. However, the mistake of the defence side brought to nought the efforts at the end of the game.
In a post-match press conference, Kudus who bagged the ‘Man of the Match’ award said, “It’s a mixed feeling. I wanted the goal to reflect on the result. We got a point and I felt we deserved more. The goals they scored were some of the silly mistakes from us. We need to learn from them.”
However, in his general perspective, “Everyone gave their all. We fought.”
The team’s focus is to win their next game against Mozambique, he said.
“You saw the energy and the fighting spirit in the boys today. We have to do more than that in the next game because we have to get the three points at all costs.”
They aim to win Ghana’s fifth title and the plan is to give their best for individual games just to realise that goal.
“The ultimate goal for all of us is to lift the trophy but the sub-goal is one game at a time.”
