Siblings Arrested for Assaulting 12-year-old Girl

Two siblings are in police custody for allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old girl last week in Accra.
Their arrest followed a formal complaint by the mother of the victim.
“The complainant alleged that three women assaulted her daughter without any provocation.”
According to the police, the complainant visited the police station with the victim, who bore visible marks of assault which occurred on December 30, 2025.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that earlier the same day, the victim had an altercation with a seven-year-old boy, identified as Horm Giftan Mesopeh, who is related to the suspects. Following the incident, the suspects allegedly went to the victim’s house, brought her to their residence, and assaulted her.”
Two of the suspects, identified as Precious Giftan Mesopeh, aged 22, and Princess Giftan Mesopeh, aged 25, were arrested on December 31, 2025.
At the time of their arrest, the third suspect, identified as Priscilla Novishie Wornyo, aged 49, who is said to be the mother of the two, was reported to have travelled to the Volta Region.
“Police efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the third suspect to aid the investigation,” it noted, adding that the two arrested suspects have been formally charged and are currently in Police custody, assisting with investigations.
They will be put before the court on January 5, 2025.
Meanwhile, the general public has been cautioned against resorting to violence in the resolution of disputes, particularly matters involving children.
“Parents, guardians, and community members are advised to seek lawful means of addressing grievances and to report incidents to the Police promptly. The Command further urges the public to respect the law and protect the rights and welfare of children at all times.”
