Sensitise Ghanaians About Your Role- Asantehene to Immigration Service

The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to provide the requisite public education on their mandate.
Aside from manning the country’s borders, His Majesty observes that the public is largely ignorant about its mandate.
During a visit to the Manhyia Palace on January 14, 2026, by the new Regional Commander of the GIS, Deputy Commissioner of Immigration Fred Amankwah, Otumfuo challenged him to embark on public sensitisation.
“Not everyone understands your mandate. People are familiar with your role at our various borders, while the majority of what you do are unknown to them. As you take over, make sure you educate the public on your roles.”
Otumfuo also urged him to accord the needed respect to his subordinates to achieve success.
“Yes, you are the leader, but you can’t do without them. Unite them and respect them.”
