Seek Police Help, Not Mob Action- CID Boss to Ghanaians

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service, Lydia Yaako Donkor, has urged the public to report all criminal activities to the police for the law to take its full course rather than resorting to mob action.
Addressing the public on March 9, 2026, she reiterated that mob action is a criminal offence under Ghanaian law.
“The Service wishes to remind the public that taking the law into one’s own hands will not be tolerated. Citizens are urged to report suspected criminal activities to the police rather than resorting to self-help or inciting mob action.”
She gave a word of caution while updating the public on the lynching of a 24-year-old Liberian national identified as Austin Tengeeh at Lashibi in Accra on February 27, 2026.
According to the CID, two more people have been arrested and remanded for their connection to the fatal incident, with the case formally referred to the Homicide Unit on March 2, 2026, together with the machete exhibits and all remand suspects for continuation of investigations.
The accused persons include Francis Amuzu, William Adison, and Vincent Adzikah, who were at the scene on the same day by the Sakumono District Police, as well as suspect Enock Mensah, who evaded arrest by going into hiding. He got arrested after later resurfacing.
Suspect Nana Agyenim Boateng, whose instruction is believed to have set the chain of events in motion, was subsequently arrested and remanded into custody.
“March 5, a forensic examination was conducted following a formal identification by his brother-in-law. A full autopsy report will be issued by the pathologist after a toxicology report is submitted.”
All the suspects are in police custody after being remanded and scheduled to reappear in court on March 16, 2026.
