See Post-Basic Specialised Nursing Programmes Introduced by Govt

The Ministry of Health has introduced new Post-Basic Specialised Nursing Programmes in response to the growing need for specialist nurses to provide quality healthcare delivery locally and the rising migration of specialised health workers to other countries.
These programmes, it said, had become crucial in managing non-communicable diseases (NDs) such as heart diseases, diabetes, cancer, kidney failure and others.
The new programmes include Critical Care Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Cardiology Nursing, Nephrology Nursing, Endocrinology Nursing and Oncology Nursing.
Benefits to Applicant
It stated that applicants will gain advanced clinical skills, improve patient outcomes, and become leaders in their field within the Ghana Healthcare system, as the programme is designed to meet international standards.
In addition, it said the programmes will enhance remuneration, as the training is fully supported by the Ministry of Health, with modern skills laboratories, upgraded libraries, and expert faculty.
Academic and Professional certification
After four semesters of intensive, clinically focused training, graduates will receive a BSc. from the University of Cape Coast.

Graduates will also be eligible for Associate Membership with the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM) and for licensure with the Nursing and Midwifery Council – Ghana (NMC).
