See Hideouts Of Dismantled Robbery Gang In Ashanti Region

The police have identified the hideouts of a dismantled robbery gang in the Ashanti Region.
This followed a targeted operation that led to the arrest of 10 members of the gang and killed three others.
The various hideouts include Esereso Adagya, Ejisu Achiakrom, Atonsu, Cherepatre, Ahwiaa, Zongo, Aputuogya, Asuofua, Atonsu Monaco, Obuasi and Buoho.
Addressing the press at the police headquarters in Accra on September 24, 2025, the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Yohonu, said the gang were behind a series of rural bank robberies in the Ahafo, Western, Central, Eastern and Ashanti Regions.
They are reported to have attacked Adansi Rural Bank in Formena on April 10, 2025; Lower Pra Rural Bank in Takoradi on April 24, Asokore Rural Bank in Asokwa on May 18; Ahafo Kukuom Rural Community Bank on May 30; Nwabiagya Rural Bank at Offinso on July 10; and Bosomtwe Rural Bank at Suntreso on July 18.
Other robberies were committed at the Kakum Rural Bank at Elmina on August 4; MRB Bank in Winneba on August 15; South Birim Rural Bank at Akim Asini on August 16; Ecobank Ahafo branch on September 16; Ecobank Ahafo Kenyase Branch on September 8; and St. Martin de Porres Parish Federal Credit Union at Atonsu Monaco on September 14.
“We have successfully dismantled the gang behind all these robberies. So far, we have successfully arrested 10 suspects; three others were shot dead in the course of the operation during a shootout with the police.”
The police reportedly recovered 14 weapons, including AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, single-barreled guns, ammunition, vehicles, and mobile phones, among others.
The IGP commended the Ashanti Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Mr Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe.
