School Feeding Secretariat Commences Training Programme for Caterers and Head Cooks

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has commenced a nationwide training programme for Caterers and Head Cooks across all GSFP-beneficiary schools in the sixteen (16) regions of the country.
The practical training in the Bono, Volta, and Oti Regions begins on December 15, 2025, with other regions scheduled to follow suit.
The country has been zoned into Southern, Middle, and Northern belts, with training sessions taking place at eighty-two (82) designated centres nationwide to ensure effective coordination and nationwide coverage.
In a statement, the Secretariat said the training is being implemented with the support of key stakeholders, including the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Women in Agricultural Development (WIAD) Directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
The training will focus on nutrition, hygiene, food safety, and best practices in meal preparation.
“This collaborative effort is aimed at equipping caterers with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills needed to consistently deliver safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals to schoolchildren.”
According to the Secretariat, this reflects its commitment to improving the quality, safety, and nutritional value of meals served to pupils.
“The GSFP remains committed to strengthening service delivery and safeguarding the health and well-being of pupils across the country.”
