School Building Collapse: Vice Prez Demands Adherence to Building Regulations and Accountability

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has called for strict adherence to building regulations and accountability.
These regulations, she said, must be observed at all levels.
“We need to go beyond response and address the root causes of such incidents; adherence to building regulations and accountability at all levels are essential to prevent future events,” she said after visiting Experimental D/A School in Accra Newtown, where an uncompleted building collapsed on some Christian worshippers on March 29, 2026.
The incident left three dead and 20 others injured.
The veep also visited victims at the 37 Military Hospital, the Police Hospital, and the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), where she assured them of the government’s support.
On behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, she expressed condolences to the affected families and commended all emergency services for their swift and coordinated response.
