Sarkin Zango Of Ashanti Region Dead
The 14th Sarkin Zango of the Ashanti region, Sultan Omar Farouk Saeed, has died.
This was confirmed by the Sarkin Zango Palace in a press statement.
“The head family, Sheikh Clessay Abdul Wadood Haroun and Chairman of the Zango Palace- Kumasi, deeply regret to announce the passing away of Sultan Omar Farouk Saeed- 14th Sarkin Zango of Ashanti.”
He died after a protracted illness on Thursday, February 23, 2023, the palace said.
He was 75 years.
“Burial prayers according to the Muslim rites would be held at the Kumasi Central Mosque on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 2 pm”, the statement said.
He left behind two wives and two children.
Sultan Omar Farouk Saeed was installed Sarkin Zango on January 29, 2010.
