Sanitation: Offinso Aduana Residents Demand Waste Bins
Residents of Aduana in the Offinso South Municipal of Ashanti region have called on the Municipal Assembly led by Hon. Kingsley Owusu Appiah to provide the community with waste bins which will help improve sanitation issues in the area.
According to the residents, the waste is causing a lot of harm than good to the people as a result of air pollution and open defecation as most people (young and old) use the dumping site as a toilet facility due to lack of toilet facility in the area.
While driving in the streets of Aduana, you notice refuse being dumped recklessly. This area where the refuse is dumped has no waste bin for people to dispose of their waste.
“The scenes are very unwelcoming and don’t speak well about the present administration and a state that once prides itself as the most cleanness state capital in Offinso”.
“The mosquito breeds and smells from the dumping site are uncomfortable and whenever it rains, the waste gets to the home of some people since there are a lot of houses around the site”, they added.
The residents are therefore pleading with the authorities in charge to put proper measures in place in handling sanitation challenges in the area to avoid disease outbreaks in the near future especially relocating the dumping site.
