Samira Demands Retraction, Apology From Neat FM Over Sammy Gyamfi Claim
The Second Lady of Ghana, Samira Bawumia is demanding a retraction and apology from Despite Group of Companies over an allegation the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi made on one of its media organisations on Monday.
The politician, while on one of the shows of Neat FM- a subsidiary of the Despite Group of Companies- reportedly alleged the convoy of the Second lady includes a vehicle that carries her make-up products and her make-up artiste.
“There’s another person; Samira Bawumia, do you know her convoy includes a brand new Landcruiser carrying makeup; makeup artiste; it follows her everywhere. Who’s paying for that, the taxpayer,” he is quoted by a section of blogs to have said on Neat FM’s Me Man Nti programme.
Samira, in a letter to the mother Organisation of the radio station through her lawyers, denied the allegation as “false”.
“We have the instruction of our client to state that the aforementioned statement which unfortunately casts her in the minds of Ghanaians as insensitive, wasteful and unreasonable, is NOT TRUE. She therefore categorically denies the said statement.”
According to her, it was unfair for the host of the programme to have allowed the politician to continue with the allegation without demanding any evidence of that or a retraction.
Additionally, she observes that the allegation has been published on various online platforms including that of the Organisation.
She is therefore demanding an unqualified apology and retraction of the statement by the radio station on the next edition of the programme.
