Sam George To Clamp Down on DSTV Decoders from Nigeria

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Same George, is set to establish a working committee to clamp down on DSTV Decoders from Nigeria.
Speaking at a presser on Monday, he said the committee will be established in due course to comprehensively tackle the issue of cross-border piracy.
He explained that the illegal act has, for years, deprived the state of tax revenue, transferred jobs from Ghana to Nigeria, denied unsuspecting customers good customer service and retards the Ghanaian local content creation space.
The working group will have representation from the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, the National Communications Authority, the Cybersecurity Authority, the Ghana Domain Name Registry, the National IT Agency, the Customs Division of the GRA, the Ghana Police Service, Multichoice Africa and Multichoice Ghana.
“I will work with the heads of the above agencies to establish a working group in due course to comprehensively tackle this issue of cross-border piracy,” he noted.
